Hello everyone! IQ speaking here!
As you might already imagine by the title of this short article, I am leaving The Global Investor. Does it mean that The Global Investor is closing? No, it doesn’t! B&H will continue the amazing journey!
I am leaving because I have been offered an investment-related professional (and personal) opportunity that I simply couldn’t reject and to which I will have to allocate 110% of my time. This new venture will allow me to do what I love (researching companies) full time. Don’t worry, I’ll be able to give information about it in a couple of months through my twitter account.
Even though I am really excited with the new venture, it saddens me greatly to leave this project, a project that I started from scratch back in April as The Deep Dive Newsletter. If you remember The Deep Dive Newsletter you have been a subscriber for quite some time! Thank you for that!
The objective of the newsletter since day 1 was to provide deep research on several companies that I followed and that I thought that the Fintwit community might find interesting. I normally shared content through twitter threads but my Fintwit friend @Route2FI motivated me to share this content in an article format through Substack.
Having to publicly write articles in English was a challenge for me as I am non-native (Spanish). However, since I was 3, I attended an American school here in Spain so I considered my level of English to be quite decent to give it a shot. I also decided to write articles because I was pretty sure that putting my thoughts on paper would help me improve my investment process. Fortunately, I was right.
Several months after starting the project, I met Henry (aka. @BuyAndHoldd) through Twitter and decided to co-host a Twitter Spaces season with him, inviting several great Fintwit investors to share their thoughts about general investment topics. The season was a great success and I kept in contact with Henry, who told me that he was thinking about opening a Substack that would provide research on companies in emerging markets like LatAm and China. And then…we had an idea.
Since day 1 my ambition was to offer a research service that would break geographical barriers but I lacked the knowledge about emerging markets, knowledge that Henry had a ton of. I asked Henry if he wanted to build something together and that’s exactly how The Global Investor was born. As I already had a good reader base (around 2K readers) we decided to rebrand The Deep Dive Newsletter rather than starting from scratch.
I started the project but this newsletter has improved massively in quality with the addition of Henry and I honestly think that he is capable of improving its quality even further. He is a great researcher and his knowledge about emerging and developed countries is very impressive for someone his age.
I don’t want to make this article huge because it’s basically an informative article, not a deep dive! I hope that sometime in the future my path meets again with that of The Global Investor, probably at a time when Henry will have already scaled it to be massive.
Until then, I hope that all the readers of The Global Investor keep enjoying the content that Henry has to provide. I learned a lot from his articles and I hope that you do too!
And remember, this is not a “goodbye”, it’s a “see you in the future!”.
Stay well!
